Over 80 pages of reading...

Posted by cutiefasha at 9:40 PM 0 comments

I am so tired of these readingsss. Bila laaaa nak habis baca econs ni? Nak baca skip2 boleh tak? Tak larat daaaaaa nak baca. Sangat penat + exhausted. Even right beside me, there's a mug of french vanilla....but still it cannot cure my dizziness while reading these economics terms. Ohhh boy........Mata da berpinar-pinar ok. i need some rest, so I feels like blogging jap. Haha. Asyik bagi alasan je each time I get distracted from works. Hrmm, what to do??

So, in order to make u guys find it not a waste of time to read my blog, here I googled some tips on how to make an effective reading skills.

1. You don't have to be a great reader to get the point.
Some people read fast and remember everything. Others read slowly and take a couple of times to get all the information. It doesn't matter, really, so long as when you read, you get the information you're seeking.

(I read super fast, but i dont really understand what i'm reading...duhhh)

2. Know WHY you're reading.
Are you reading for entertainment or to learn something? Decide why you're reading before you start and you'll greatly improve your comprehension and your enjoyment.

(I read as my professors told me to do so. I also read so that i do not get lost in class discussion. I read because I HAVE TO!! )

3. You don't need to read everything.
Not every magazine, letter, and email you receive contains information you need. In fact, most of it is simply junk. Throw it away, hit the delete key! Just doing this will double the amount of time you have available to read.

(But, but...my reading list said: Read all highlighted Chapters. They are COMPULSORY)

4. You don't need to read all of what you DO read.
Do you read every article of every magazine, every chapter of every book? If so, you're probably spending a lot of time reading stuff you don't need.
Be choosy: select the chapters and articles that are important. Ignore the rest.

( I can actually do this?? OMG~ )

5. Scan before you read.
Look at the table of contents, index, topic headers, photo captions, etc. These will help you determine if, a) you have a real interest in this reading, and b) what information you're likely to get from it.

(Agree...save a lot of time)

6. Prioritize your reading.
You can't read everything all at once (and wouldn't want to). If it's important, read it now. If it's not, let it wait.

(I am quite unsure bout this...)

7. Optimize your reading environment.
You'll read faster and comprehend more if you read in an environment that's comfortable for you.

(My bed is the most comfortable place for me. However, turns out that whether I read the book, or the book READ me.)

8. Once you start, don't stop!
Read each item straight through. If you finish and have questions, go back and re-read the pertinent sections. If you don't have questions, you got what you needed and are ready to move on.

(I found this is DIFFICULT to follow. I keep getting asleep...zzzz~)

9. Focus.
Remember, you're reading with a purpose, so focus on that purpose and the material. If you lose interest or keep losing your place, take a break or read something else. You can keep track of where you are by following along with your hand. This simple technique helps you focus and increase your concentration.

( 100% Agree. Good technique.)

10. Practice!
The more you read, the better reader you'll become (and smarter, too)! So, feed your mind: read!

(Absolutely true.)

October 29's story...

Posted by cutiefasha at 9:11 PM 2 comments

Hari ini berlalu dengan sangat cepat. Betul. TAK TIPU... Pagi tadi terbangun lambat dari kebiasaan, tapi alhamdulillah masih sempat Subuh. Then, dah tak tidur lepas subuh, macam kebiasaan. (Ooops, ter-kantoi di situ).

Anyway, layan facebook jap, bukak-bukak emelS, stalk baca wall posts friends and so on.. tup tup dah pukul 9.30pg. Pastu pegi tolong Chef of The Day masak NASI LEMAK. Oh, nak tambah sikit. Chef of The Day yang Luka Tangannya. Memang tragis la. Jangan aku jadi Raja Bersiung sudaaa...hahaha...gurau ye An..

Memang masa macam cepat sangat berlalu. Around 11.00, Maryam and me pegi Chinatown to buy some groceries, then balik rumah balik nak hantar barang, pegi Parliament Street nak beli ayam. Tragis lagi, "Surma" and "Marhaba" aka nama kedai ayam halal pulak tutup kejap. Pegi sembahyang Jumaat. Alhamdulillah. Balik Centre Avenue, dah pukul 2.30 ptg. Ok, pas mandi, terus Solat then take a nap jap. Penat pegi shopping. Hahaha. Shopping la sangat.

Pastu around 5pm, ada hal yg nak diuruskan kat Parliament St, kuar lagi and after da settle semua hal, ayam pun dah beli, sampai rumah dah pukul 7.10pm. Tengok....tak sedar da malam. Ish ish ish.

And if perasan, takde pun agenda lunch utk hari ini. Memang perut bunyik2 la tadi. Okay, back to the point, after makan lunch + dinner lunner,  rehatkan perut jap (sebab kenyang sangat *uhuk*) and rasa nak blogging. And sekarang, my laptop's clock shows 8.43pm.

Habis suda satu hari Jumaat. LANGSUNG TAK PEGANG BUKU STUDY WEY! apa nak jadi? Da la i screwed my first Sociology Test. Macam hampeh je result. Unsatisfied laaa.

Cuma satu je, yang buat diri ini bersyukur sangat-sangat, my beloved TA, Mr, Franco accept my thesis and the whole proposal. Alhamdulillah. "Satisfactory news after a tough + long weekend". At least, kurang la satu beban for the week. Sekali lagi, hambamu ini bersyukur Ya Allah...

To-Do-List for next two weeks.

4. Winter clothing
(Such as gloves, scarf and topi tu)

5. Naik Sight-seeing bus

A very TOUGH + LONG week for me. So, hope this video can tell u more. I JUST CAN'T.

Cubalah bersuara sikit wahai saudagar. Asyik diam je. Macamana??

Asal tahu tengah-tengah je, terus nak fire-fire orang pulak kan...Patutnya, dengar dulu kisah pedagang dengan saudagar, baru buat judgement. Jangan jadi Ultraman, fireeee je terus... wakaka.

Sekian, Hikayat Putar-Belit.

Posted by cutiefasha at 12:12 PM 0 comments
When people asked me, what course did you take in U of T? Immediately, I will mention SOCIOLOGY. However, I do realised that not all of them understand o know what is sociology exactly mean? And most importantly, what kind of works do Sociologist or  a Graduate student with a bachelor in Sociology can work? First, let us examine this image.

See, there are many options available with a degree in Sociology....

Thats all for now...

tanya sama pokok

TANYA SAMA POKOK
Penyanyi: P. Ramlee
Filem: Anakku Sazali
Tanya pada pokok apa sebab goyang,
Nanti jawab pokok angin yang goncang,
Tanya sama langit apa sebab hujan,
Nanti jawab langit tanyalah awan.
Awan nanti kata aku kandung air,
Sampai tempat sejuk aku pun cair,
Tengok dalam air nampak bayang-bayang,
Campak satu batu bayang pun hilang.
Tanya sama hati apa rasa sayang,
Adakah tandanya nampak dipandang,
Kumbang rayu bunga bulan dan bintangnya,
Punya tanda-tanda hubungan mesra.
Tanya sama hati pernahkah merindu,
Tiba masa lena apa mimpimu,
Masa berjauhan apa nan dikenang,
Bila difahamkan itulah sayang.
Jikalau tidak kerana sayang,
Kuntuman kasih tak mungkin kembang,
Andainya jemu mengganti rindu,
Jambangan mesra tentulah layu.
Tanya sama hati pernahkah merindu,
Tiba masa lena apa mimpimu,
Masa berjauhan apa nan dikenang,
Bila difahamkan itulah sayang.

The Craziest Mobile Charger.

The Craziest Mobile Chargers

Published on Today 10/9/2010 under Tech - by Gracie Murano -19,468 views

 Umbilical Cord iPhone Charger

Umbilical cord and iPhone are two things you probably never imagine landing in the same sentence, much less a gadget article's title. However, you should have known that the iPhone is capable of bridging all sorts of weird gaps. The media artist Mio I-zawa has managed to create the strangest iPhone accessory you will ever come across. Instead of plugging your iPhone into the usual cord, just imagine hooking it up to a squirming umbilical cord. Once it's plugged in the cord squirms it looks like it's trying to suck the life out of the iPhone, when in fact it's restoring the iPhone back to life. People wish you couldn't hear the electronic device moving so much. It almost kills the visual effect entirely, but it is still a cool gadget in all the wrong ways.
(Link | Via)

 Solar Tree Charger

Bold statement, right? But look at this thing! The Solar Cell Tree Charger is an engineered tree with 54 solar cells that charge your gizmos by the sun. While nothing is plugged in a battery charges will power your devices when there is no power. All of the branches are adjustable so that you can make sure each is exposed to the sun. (Link)

 Retrophone Charger

This weird gadget is called the iRetrofone Steampunk Copper iPhone 4 dock, and it looks pretty sweet since it allows you to use the retro handset to use the phone while it's docked. The dock is made out of copper, so it's quite heavy. But it's not its weight that is the only substantial thing. It'll weigh heavily on your bank account too. Each one is sculpted, cast, and polished by hand artist Scott Freeland, which is why it sells for $450 (USD). Wow, talk about pricey! Heck, that's more than two iPhone 4s. At least there's no 2-year contract required with it. (Link)

 Yo Yo iPhone Charger

Yes, it is possible nowadays to charge your iPhone the Yo Yo style! An induction powered yoyo charger for Apple. And of course there is a small onboard LI cell to store the electricity generated. So no need to charge as you yoyo. Yoyo and then charge. (Link | Via)

 Rubik's Cube Charger

The Rubik's Cube has conquered the world not just as a plaything, but as a useful device and this is proved by the new conceptual Rubik's Cube Magic Charger that can charge your gadgets. While the entire World is thinking to save energy and we celebrate Earth Hour and Earth Day, or Environment Day, still, there is a dearth of certain concrete steps taken in this direction. But this new concept of charging your mobile phone or MP3 player, etc. via Rubik Cube is revolutionary. This Magic Charger saves energy that is converted to electric waves used in charging the gadgets. This energy is saved in the internal lithium-ion battery while we play with the cube and electro magnetic induction principles let the cube harness some energy to be further converted for use. I guess you must be wondering from where the charging slots are located; you need to pull the Rubik cube upwards to locate the USB charger. Now you won't think that it is worthless to play with a Rubik Cube, as you would be contributing towards the sustainable development. (Link | Via)

 Gypsy Thief's Steampunk Charger

If you always have had a thing for Steampunk creations, you are going to love this Steampunk iPhone/iPod charger coming straight from the Thin Gypsy Thief's Steampunk Gear. Kyle Miller (aka Thin Gypsy Thief), while giving final touches to his guitar, came up with the idea of a Steampunk dock for the iPhone/iPod. He thinks that this could be the kind of charger Tim Burton might need for his iPod or iPhone. The charger works pretty well and we hope to see it sometime at the Thin Gypsy Thief's Etsy shop.(Link | Via)

 Vintage iPod Tube Amp/Charger

Here's a great design if you dare to be different. The Vintage iPod Tube Amp/Charger has the cool somewhat steampunk/Sci-Fi look of a mad scientists lair. According to the manufacturer, you can enjoy your playlists with the “warmth and richness only a vintage tube amplifier can provide”. I don't know about that, but I love the design.

Just plug your iPod into the Vintage Amplifier/Charger, sit back with the included remote, and browse through your playlists. They claim that audio details that have been lost in MP3 files through compression, dramatically re-emerge through the 25 watts RMS per channel, all-tube pre-amp system. It will cost you a hefty $800 to find out if they are right. No doubt some of us don't mind missing out on the differences we can't hear anyway, at that price. (Link)

 Orange Dance Charger

It's summer, that means music festival time for the pagans. Orange knows this and returns with another solution to keep your Glastonbury-bound portable electronics charged. Revelers will get the chance to try this prototype Dance Charge kinetic charger. Right, kinetic as in movement. With an assist by eco-house GotWind, the 4.25 x 2.5-inch / 180-gram velcro and elastic band converts your chemically-fueled, backbeat twitches into electrical current with the help of a system of weights and magnets. This in turn charges an embedded battery for topping off your portable electronics throughout the multi-day event. (Link)

 Toasty Charger

Designer Hyun-A Ko has come out with the Toasty Charger concept, a charger that is shaped like a toaster. It is compatible with all varying sizes of lithium ion batteries, slide one in, push the toaster handle down and when done it will pop back up again like a toast. Hmm… I often get a burnt toast. (Link)

i miss home T_T

Posted by cutiefasha at 11:41 AM 0 comments

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

And Ive been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
Im fine baby, how are you?
Well I would send them but I know that its just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
Im lucky, I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, Ive got to go home

Let me go home
Im just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like Im living someone elses life
Its like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And Im surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
Ive had my run
Baby, Im done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
Ill be home tonight
Im coming back home

NOTE FROM ME:

lately, i really miss home. very very much.

May be surrounded by
A million people
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

even with u all by my side, STILL i kinda felt left out. u may not notice that, but deep in my heart i'm suffering. however, life MUST go on. i should be strong and hope that success will be with me, someDAY.

Quick updates from me =)

Posted by cutiefasha at 12:56 PM 0 comments
Salam,

Dah lama tak update. Berkenaan dengan last post iaitu, "macam-macam hal", ini kira sambungan la jugak. Pasal life as a student kat toronto, canada ni. So, lets us begin....

Rumah
Tapi, in terms of keselesaan memang sangat berbaloi. Tambah-tambah dekat dengan banyak student Malaysia jugak, so tak de la risau sangat if nak mintak tolong (or menolong). Ye la, kawan-kawan lain semua duduk kat area downtown or campus. But now, everything seems fine. Maybe just akan ada masalah kewangan sikit la kot. Solution? Jual nasi lemak. Berjimat-cermat laaaa.

Kelas
So far, still ok. Dah sign up for anthro and socio punya tutorials. Schedule still cantik lagi. 3 days of school. tapi, dah drop philosophy last week. So now, just ada 4 credit hours je fpr first year. Takpe kot, nxt yr ambik lebih laaa. Summer mmg tak nak amek class sbb nak balik Msia. ahaha....

Makanan
Tak rasa macam duk oversea pun? haha. Seriously weyyy. Sebab asyik masak je kejenya. Tak caya, tgk gamba kat facebook. Haha. Macam-macam resepi baru la dapat kat sini. Nasi tomato, nasi lemak and macam2 lagi. Alhamdulillah, rezeki. Paling best, makan "POPEYE"....rase macam makan KFC. Sedap and affordable price. Kalau sebulan sekali, ok la kot. Kena jimat cermat ni. huhuhu.

Kawan-kawan
Hati-hati memilih kawan. Memang ni lesson of the month la (Sept 2010)....Segala yang berlaku ada hikmahnya. Dan yang paling penting, tak boleh "make assumption without knowing what is the real situation". Kalau nak tahu cerita sebenar, talk face-to-face.

"Bear in mind (Cikgu Dayat, 2008)"

Ingat tu FARAH!
